About the course
Aim of the course
This specialty “Biodiversity and Environment” offers students a multidisciplinary training of very good quality in the fields of environment, biodiversity, and ecology. Students are clearly oriented towards the world of research; they acquire knowledge, skills, interdisciplinary openings, and the level of autonomy necessary to approach issues related to individuals, species, populations, ecosystems, and landscapes. Similarly, this training meets the demands of the socio-economic sector by directing the student’s fundamental knowledge towards practical aspects in order to fully and effectively participate on the ground in sustainable development. It aims to ensure the protective function of our environment (ecosystems) and our biological diversity, to create a research dynamic, and to equip future trained executives with the skills needed to understand and analyze the evolution of natural ecosystems.
Targeted knowledge
The training aims to:
- Master fundamental concepts in ecology, ecotoxicology, environment, and biodiversity.
- Analyze the evolution of natural ecosystems, ensure conservation, management, and/or restoration of biological diversity, natural resources, and natural ecosystems, as well as develop sustainable management strategies (enhancement and preservation).
- Allow students to acquire theoretical and practical foundations on ecological diversity, species diversity, and genetic diversity to pursue research work.
- Develop research areas in collaboration with socio-economic sectors (livestock, environment, agronomy, etc.) to contribute to the sustainable development of the country.
Dissertation (End of study project)
Students undertake practical internships and projects (thesis) focused on issues related to the degradation of ecosystem quality and the environment, the threats to biodiversity, and the overexploitation of natural resources. The goal is to find solutions and strategies to combat these threats, emphasize sustainable management for the preservation of wildlife, flora, ecosystems, and natural resources, and protect the environment from all forms of degradation (pollution, toxicity, etc.).
